Our latest test run – with Current Analysis – was lively because we had four people using the solution this time.

As a bit of background, with our hosted solution trial we are letting analysts – known experts in the Mobile Unified Communications space – test drive the DiVitas solution running on Nokia E71 ESeries phones. Five analyst firms have tried it to date, and each had positive feedback about the voice quality, seamless roaming and Unified Communications features (Instant Messaging and Presence).

While the Current Analysis folks echoed previous kudos for the voice quality, they were also impressed with the seamless roaming. This is interesting because DiVitas views the ability to roam seamlessly between WiFi and cellular networks, without dropping the call, as table stakes. Any Mobile UC company worth its salt must offer high-quality seamless roaming. But many people have yet to witness this technology in action, and the Current Analysis analysts were impressed with how transparent it really is.

According to Current Analysis’ Kathryn Weldon, in the early days of early Fixed Mobile Convergence and dual-mode devices, handing off calls was a major obstacle to the seamless-roaming market’s success. “After seeing it work so easily, I’d say OK, we’ve gone beyond that in the industry.”

Peter Jarich took note of the exceptional voice quality, which is driven by the DiVitas-engineered Voice Quality Engine. “The fact that I called my parents and my hard-of-hearing mother couldn’t tell it was anything other than a landline connection bodes well.”

He was also impressed by how solid the various features are – seamless roaming, WiFi voice, Instant Messaging (IM) and Presence. Especially Presence. “We’re all SOHO workers so we are all on Skype. We are well aware of the power of seeing who is available because you can you hit them up with an Instant Message real quick.”

And while this was a free trial, the trio could envision how a company could use the DiVitas solution to save money. For example, as telecommuters, they all expense their cell phones and Internet phone bills individually to Current Analysis each month. Using DiVitas, their company could save money on the number of devices issued, supported and bills expensed each month.

On a personal level, Rob Arnold, could see the potential cost-benefits and he was looking forward to being able to sign up for a similar service his family could use.

I plucked out a few bits of conversations and included them in this blog. However, my hands-down favorite was the one that said we are either stupid or confident for sending our solution, on a trial basis, to the most critical population in the industry (analysts).

“You don’t send something out to people unless you’re really dumb or have some degree of certainty that it really works.”

The consensus was the latter was true.
